Kenya has met the United States’ minimum fiscal transparency requirements, while neighbouring Tanzania has fallen short, according to the 2026 Fiscal Transparency Report released by the US Department of State.
The report assesses whether governments receiving US assistance publicly disclose key information on how they raise, spend and manage public funds. It also examines budget documents, government debt, audits, procurement, and natural resource contracts.
